Canadian Red Cross Support to Small Businesses and Not-for-Profit Organizations Program

Contents

The Canadian Red Cross is committed to supporting affected individuals and communities impacted by the recent flooding in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) and Mackenzie County in April 2020. Experience has shown us that support for small businesses and not-for-profit organizations is essential to the recovery of people and communities affected by a disaster.

Eligibility

Eligible small business owners and social non-profit organizations that were directly impacted by the floods, and that meet the minimum requirements may apply for up to $3,000 in funding. This financial assistance is to provide support for things such as:

  • Uninsured direct losses (damage, lost equipment/inventory)
  • Insurance deductibles
  • Specialized clean-up costs that might not be eligible under other programs
  • Ongoing expenses, such as rent for a commercial space or utility costs

Please note that this program is not intended to fund loss of revenue or income.

Directly impacted means that the business or social profit was in an area that was flooded due to high water levels. It further means that the business or social profit has needs such as direct damage, clean-up not covered by other sources, an insurance deductible that has been paid, or ongoing rent or utility costs.

Application Period

Small business owners and not-for-profit organizations can apply online until September 30, 2020.
